Donation

Aside from the grants received for individual projects, the work of the Mendelssohn-Gesellschaft is financed exclusively through donations. While admission to the permanent exhibition at the Mendelssohn Remise is free, your voluntary donations are more than welcome. The Mendelssohn-Gesellschaft depends on such gifts to cover:

  • The yearly rent for the Remise, which costs more than € 70,000;
  • Operating expenses, repairs, and maintenance, as well as the development and expansion of the permanent exhibition;
  • Advertisement costs and event-related expenses, insofar as they are not covered by entrance fees.

We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your charitable donation. Mendelssohn-Gesellschaft has been officially recognized as a non-profit organization by the german Tax and Revenue Authority.

MATCHING GRANT

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Mendelssohn-Remise, descendants of the Mendelssohns have once again launched a new matching grant campaign for 2026. A total of €20,000 is available! Every euro we receive as a donation as part of this campaign will be matched by the matching grant donors.
Following the great success of the matching grant campaigns in 2024, a new campaign was launched to mark the anniversary on 26 February 2026. As of today, 15 April 2026, we have already received EUR 8,700. These donations are specifically intended to cover our ongoing rent, which unfortunately cannot be covered by individual project grants.

We would also like to thank all members of the Mendelssohn Society and the Friends of the Mendelssohn Remise for helping us to make full use of this funding opportunity. We rely on your support and ask you to donate to the Mendelssohn Society’s bank account (see below) using the reference ‘Remise’ or ‘Matching Grant’. Every contribution, whether small or large, helps.
